Turn Around – Going Forward Sometimes Means Going Back

March 2, 2017

Well if you are reading this, you probably are aware that we have started to head back to Williamsburg, VA. We loved the RGV in south Texas, however, life does not always work out like you plan. Perhaps, in our case, life gives you a glimpse of the future to allow you to have something to work towards. We spent most of our adult lives taking care of our children and ourselves. Growing up in the process whether we wanted to or not. Sometimes fighting it tooth and nail. Sometimes this resulted in things being worse for the wear. At times it meant putting others before ourselves. Well I should say most of the time, even when we did act at times selfishly, we still focused mostly on getting our kids raised, fed and keeping a roof over their heads.

I mention all of this to sort out the last six months or so of our lives without a child, or should say an adult child living and relying on us. When we came to the point in our lives, where all we really needed to be responsible to were ourselves, and of course Rufus our four-legged child, we did not know what we wanted to be when we grew up. One thing led to another and before we could recite the National Anthem, we were moved out of a house, into a 24-foot travel trailer (Betsy) and on the road to South Texas. Many things have transpired between last June 2016 and February 2017, some of which we will share at some point, some maybe might remain something between just Richard and I. But as of the moment we just want to touch base with our friends, family and those we will meet in the future.

We are in the process of heading back home, with Betsy in Tow, and a five-year plan in our heads. I have been offered a job as a Marketing Coordinator in Williamsburg, VA. So I start my new position on the 27th of February. Yes, Williamsburg we will be in your midst shortly. It has been a bitter sweet time for both Richard and I. We fell in love with South Texas and I am already missing the warm breeze, palm trees and yes, even all the birds. However, we do know that for the time that we were gone from our friends, family and our hometown, we have grown tremendously. There have been many things that we have learned and are excited to see what God will have for us in the future. For now, we are excited to see our kids and grand kids, and of course all our wonderful friends who reside in that neck of the woods! In a few days we will be in town and look forward to catching up with everyone. We will still be living the full-time RV life for now. So I am sure there are still lessons to be learned and shared.

We bid ado for now to the RGV and all the great friends we have made along the way. For those who are on the road or still in the RGV, we will meet again I am sure!!! So for now I will go and chill, in our hotel bed, yes, we are treating ourselves to a full size room, compliments of low rates for those who are related by blood to those who work for Marriott. Thanks Zak! So pray for continued safe travels and enjoy some of the pics we have taken so far along the way!!!

UPDATE: Well as usual I am a day late and a dollar short! By the time I could get this up on the site, we have arrived and settled, or continue to settle back into Williamsburg, VA.

More to come and travel on!

Denise
