And We Are Off…

Well here we are! Little did we know a year ago we would be living in a 24’ travel trailer, but life has a funny way of changing at the drop of a hat. As of today we have finished cleaning out the house that we rented with our youngest daughter and her husband, moved our “Betsy” as we fondly like to call our travel trailer, to our first campground, Rockahock in Lanexa Virginia and I have put in my two week20160727_171913_resizeds’ notice at work. Whew!!!! It sure has been a busy couple of weeks, now comes the fun, or
at least I hope… Our plan for the moment are to stay at Rockahock campground for the next month and then to Maryland for a week, then from there who knows!

All I know is that it is a bit scary at 54 years of age to leave behind the common comforts of a permanent house and home to live in, for better words, a tiny house. We started this blog to not only keep in touch with friends and family, but hopefully dole out some well-earned advice, from the mistakes we make and have made, and share stories and our experiences of campgrounds and areas as we travel. In addition, I AM hoping if this does attract fellow RVers, they will share their wisdom with us as well as with others.

To be honest, I am dreading the day that we pull out of this area, saying goodbye to my our children and grandchildren, as well as close friends will be hard and sad, however, there is a deep down excitement to start our adventure on the road. As I sit here looking out the window of Betsy, I wonder where and how God will move in our lives during this time. We are praying that He will use us to help others, and trust that He will provide along the way.

If I am to be totally honest, as my friends will tell you I tend to be, whether I should or not, and Susan if your reading this remember Sam’s Club parking lot? Inside joke, sorry! My friends know my husband Richard and myself as being if anything, honest. So I apologize ahead of time if I offend anyone, it is and never will be my intentions. Oh right, back to the totally honest thing. I have to admit I do believe that God provides, as evidence especially in the last two years of our lives, but sometimes I do quake with worry as to how we are going to do life over the next who knows how long!

There is a scripture that helps me when I have my doubts or worry, Matthew 6:25-34:

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Well I think that I am going to wrap up this post for now. If you would like more information on Rockahock Campground, please follow the link below and once we are here for a bit a review of the campground will follow.

More to come and travel on!
