Campgrounds Williamsburg

Anvil Campground, Williamsburg, VA

June 21, 2017

We recently had the great pleasure of staying at Anvil Campground in Williamsburg, Virginia. This little gem finds itself amid the Historic Triangle, Jamestown, Williamsburg & Yorktown, making it very convenient for those wishing to explore the area. It is a quaint campground which offers a variety of amenities. The owner and manager, as well at the rest of the staff go above and beyond to make each guest feel welcome and comfortable. During our stay they celebrated their 63rd anniversary. There was live music and yummy food as well as the opportunity to socialize with our fellow campers.

Easy access via your own transportation or the local shuttle which stops right outside the campground, allows visitors the opportunity to visit the historic areas which are within 10 to 30 minutes from the site. When you are finished your exploration, you can return to this retreat to relax, swim, grill or have your own private campfire. If you prefer a nice walk, bike or run, Waller Mill Park’s multi-use trail is within walking distance, allowing for a nice relaxing trip to the park, two miles to the lake, where you can rent boats, canoes or just hang by the water.

Campsites: There are several types of sites available from tent to premier to fit the biggest rig. In addition, they have two cottages and two cabins for those who wish to experience the camping life without the hassle of a tent or RV. Oh by the way, very clean campsites with gravel for RV’s and their new tent areas with gravel parking and grassy spots to pitch a variety of tent sizes.

Facilities: Very clean and modern bathrooms, laundry room, store which will supply those quarters for the washer and dryers as well as a wide variety of supplies. Several play areas, (one of which has sand, hammocks, a grilling area and a zip line), pool, and grilling areas. New to the campground this year is a dog park, Rufus loved it, with supplies for those nice presents our dogs like to give us, and a smaller dog area near the fire pit with gliders and grills. I must say this park has been the cleanest one that we have had the opportunity to visit.

What we learned: That you can make lifelong friends on the road. Half of the appeal of this campground is the friendly staff. They do go out of their way to make sure that your stay is the best and they go above and beyond to make sure of this. This is a place we will return to when we head back to Williamsburg, Virginia. Thanks everyone for making our stay awesome!
