On the Road to Colorado 3

July 3, 2018

It sure has been a long few days. We had a few firsts today, one: I drove the truck with the trailer on it, YEAH! Richard finally felt comfortable enough to allow me to get behind the steering wheel. He was able to let go for about 40 miles until we had to stop for gas. Maybe tomorrow I can drive for a bit longer. We left Indiana around 8:00am, and made our way  through the rest of Indiana, Illinois and part of the way through Missouri.

I finally had to make Richard stop at a tourist trap. There were signs for about 20 miles before we reached the “tourist traditional stop” Ozarkland. It kind of reminded me of the way the Stuckey signs used to show up on the way to Florida, every couple of hundred feet.

It was definitely a tourist trap and I could have fallen right into the purchase mode, but Richard held me back. I did manage to buy some hot cinnamon and sugar almonds, Richard grabbed some taffy, and yes, I even broke down and bought some candy cigarettes, could not resist, blast from the past!

Spending hours driving down the road deserves a break for something touristy. In addition, the road also can become very monotonous, I changed the voice on my Google Maps voice, she now has an English accent which gave us a few laughs, try it you will see. I annoyed Richard by trying to imitate her, which I must admit, I cannot do!

Sites along the way, as we sped by: the St. Louis Arch, a few dead Armadillos, some more trees, finally some farm land and as we entered Missouri lots of bumps in the road. We also got to see a small forest fire and as I mentioned a tourist trap as well. Tomorrow we aim for Kansas, I guess we will see how far we get across, then the next day we enter Colorado!!!

More to come and travel on!
